About the event

Introduction to Kalari | Movement, Meditation & Indian Martial Arts
Ancient warrior practice blending yoga, martial arts & dance. Learn animal postures, breathwork & meditation. No experience needed.

About this Event

What if there was a practice that combined the grace of dance, the power of martial arts, and the mindfulness of yoga - and was 3,000 years old?

Kalaripayattu (kalari), often called the mother of martial arts, is an ancient South Indian practice that weaves together the flexibility, awareness, and balance of yoga, the strength and focus of martial arts, and the fluid grace of dance. No previous experience needed - this workshop is welcoming and accessible to all.

Kalari is a dynamic, full-body practice that builds strength, flexibility, balance, mental clarity, and emotional well-being. In this hands-on workshop, you'll get a taste of this beautiful tradition - exploring its basic positions and movements, learning about its history and philosophy, and discovering how it can inspire, enrich, and expand your own practice and everyday life.

You'll learn the warrior postures of Kalari inspired by eight different animals - both static and moving - along with some kicks, jumps, and turns, plus the elegant, dance-like Kalari warrior salutation.

Daniela will guide you through body-conditioning exercises, stretching, conscious breathing, and healthy alignment throughout. One of the gifts of Kalari is how it brings the whole person - body, mind and soul - into harmony.

Physical: Builds strength and flexibility, improves balance and energy levels, supports better digestion, sleep and immunity

Mental: Sharpens focus, concentration and problem-solving skills

Emotional: A deeply calming and grounding moving meditation that helps us reconnect with ourselves, with others and with the natural world

Join us and rediscover the warrior within!
